Backgammon Boot Camp, by Walter Trice, is a collection of articles on backgammon play, and is considered great both for beginners and for more advanced backgammon players.

The Backgammon Book by Oswald Jacoby and John R. Crawford is a thorough guide to backgammon, written by players serious enough to have backgammon rules named after them (The Jacoby Rule and the Crawford Rule)
